Prosecutors dismissed a defamation lawsuit filed by Mariana Mortagua, an MP and candidate for the leadership of the Left Bloc, against Andre Ventura, president of Chega, found that cm.
We are talking about the publication on social networks by Andre Ventura of an article in Spain, in which Mariana Mortagua is accused of being hired and paid by Ricardo Espirito Santo. Ventura added, “This is too serious!” and asked for clarification.
Block’s deputy stated in the complaint that this publication was baseless and had “the sole purpose of unjustified attack and personal, social and political defamation” of Mariana Mortagua. He said it was a “false and slanderous” article and that André Ventura’s publication had crossed “a red line of respect and honour”.
André Ventura, on the other hand, mentions that the text was a news item and that “those who take political positions have a duty to seek clarification”, as “they have already done with me”.
The State Department notes that the two actors are from “opposite ends of the national political spectrum” and that André Ventura will not arouse suspicion about Mariana Mortagua “but rather ask her to comment or respond to this matter.” Prosecutor Rita Carmona of the 5th DIAP branch in Lisbon understands that while it all happened on social media, “the same action that deputies of the Assembly of the Republic suggest in the debate that will take place in Parliament is at stake.”
