At least eight people were killed and eight injured in a shooting this Thursday in Hamburg, Germany, German newspaper Bild reported.
A woman in her seventh month of pregnancy suffered, and the fetus died, writes the Daily Mail. The information contradicts the Home Secretary’s statements that he testified that the woman did not resist the attack.
The alleged perpetrator of the shooting committed suicide after police arrived, local authorities said, ruling out the possibility of a terrorist attack.
german radio DV adds that the shooting took place in the area of the city of Alsterdorf and took place in the center of Jehovah’s Witnesses. A major police operation is underway in the Alsterdorf district. The German police remain without information about what motivated this shooting and cordoned off the place. A helicopter is involved in the area.
“I express my deepest condolences to the families of the victims. The police are working at full speed to track down the suspects and find out their background,” said the President of the Federal Council of Germany, Peter Chencher.
Home Secretary Nancy Feiser assured on social media twitter that the authorities are urgently working to investigate the crime.
The police asked people to post photos and videos of the “crime or related events” on an internet portal set up for that purpose.
