Manager and politician Alexandre Patricio Gouveia dies at 70

Manager and politician Alexandre Patricio Gouveia, who was part of Pinto Balseman’s government in the 1980s, died this Sunday at the age of 70, El Corte Inglés, the company he ran in Portugal, said.

The company said in a statement that Alexandre Patricio Gouveia has passed away as a result of a long illness and that the funeral will take place on Tuesday in Lisbon.

Alexandre Patricio Gouveia has been a director since the incorporation of the Portuguese company El Corte Inglés Group and also chaired the Board of Directors of the Fundação Batalha de Aljubarrota.

Alexander Patricio Gouveia was born in 1952. In the 1980s, he was Economic Assistant in the Office of then Prime Minister Francisco Pinto Balseman (1981-1983) and Assistant to the Minister of Commerce Alvaro Barreto (1983-1984). ).

This biographical information is indicated by the Aletheia Editores publishing house, which published at least two works by Patricio Gouveia: The Portuguese Economy in the Eurozone and The Bosses of the Camarate Attack.

This last book is the result of Alexandre Patricio Gouveia’s investigation into the plane crash that killed several people in December 1980, namely Francisco Sa Carneiro, Adelino Amaro da Costa and his brother Antonio Patricio Gouveia.
