Workers are now awaiting the outcome of a meeting to be held on March 24 at the Labor Ministry in Porto, Fesacht said.

The carrier also stated that “in view of the performance of the contract, including the settlement of amounts due, CP does not understand the reasons why the concessionaire does not fulfill its obligations to its employees, leaving more than a hundred families in distress. situation of uncertainty.
CP acknowledged that the position of workers at Apeadeiro 2020 is “delicate, especially with regard to overdue wages, and while this is not part of its responsibility,” the operator is “concerned about these workers and has made every effort to ensure their rights are respected.” protected.”
However, he added, after several meetings, “the concessionaire company has not come up with any credible solution to provide services under the contract with CP and to settle wage arrears to its employees,” the railroad operator said.
“For this reason, CP has moved forward with the decision, with immediate effect, of the contract regarding the operation of the cafeteria and bar on board the Alfa Pendular and Intercidades trains”, having already started “legal procedures with the aim of issuing a new international public tender as a matter of urgency.”
The carrier said it “ensures that with the hiring of a new bar concessionaire on long-distance trains, Apeadeiro 2020 workers can keep their jobs.”
