The next morning, the clock hands will be moved forward one hour to enter official daylight saving time.
In continental Portugal and in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, clocks must be set forward one hour when the clock is at 1:00 and set back at 2:00.
In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, the change will be made at 00:00, change at 1:00.
Legal time will change again on October 29 to winter mode.
The current regime of time change is regulated by a directive (community law) of 2000, which provides that every year on the last Sunday of March and the last Sunday of October, the clocks are moved back and forth by one hour, marking the beginning and end of the day, the end of daylight saving time, recalls the Official Journal European Union.
The summer solstice occurs on June 21 at 2:58 pm.
