The tanker Greta K, which caught fire on Tuesday off Porto, has been transferred to international waters, where it will remain for the next three days, the commander of the Douro and Leixoes captaincy told Luza today.
According to Silva Rocha, the ship is parked “about 12 miles from the port of Leishoynes, which corresponds to 16 to 17 kilometers, with two harbor tugs that make it wait for an ocean tug hired by the shipowner.”
He added that in addition to having “great opportunities”, he arrives with a team that is “recovering from very difficult situations”.
“What is planned to be done in the next three days outside the territorial waters is to restore part of the ship’s capacities, namely the pumping station, so that later, either in Leixoins or in Sines, the cargo can be unloaded,” the Navy captain explained. .
He added that the contracted tugboat “was in the Mediterranean, arrived at the port of Leiksoynes at dawn, refueled and will proceed to the place where the Greta K is located.
“Now there will be at least three days of intervention and it will only be delivered to the Port of Leishoyes if all security and transfer capabilities are in place to be able to transfer fuel to the terminal next to the Port of Leishoyes,” he pointed out.
