This Saturday, the President of the Republic used strong language to warn the Minister of Cohesion that he would be “very careful” about the use of European funds. Marcelo Rebelo de Souza added that if the rate is not what he thinks, he will not forgive the minister.
“When we accept political roles, we know that it is for better and for worse. We are not required to accept. We know that they are difficult, they are difficult, that they are subject to increased control and verification, and there are good and bad days, happy and unhappy days,” Marcelo said. “And it will be a truly super-unfortunate day for you when I find that the speed of execution of European funds is not what I think it should be. In that case, I don’t forgive you. I hope that day will not come, but I will be on the alert if it does,” the President warned during his speech at the Trophy at the opening of the mayor’s office of the municipality, created 24 years ago.
Marcelo then clarified the messages. “I was thinking about P.R.R. [Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência] ’cause the rest I know are moving forward. But PRR is a lot of money, and it takes a long time to get to your destination,” he said. Ana Abruñosa nodded and replied that “everything is under control.”
DETAILS“Urgent” use
Last Friday, the President of the Republic said that in the current situation, the use of European funds, namely the Recovery and Sustainability Plan, is “urgent and inexcusable” if it does not happen in time.
Worry
State Counselor Luis Marquez Mendez said this Saturday that he was “very concerned” by the fact that the implementation of public programs is “quite late”. Marques Mendez also criticized the pace of decisions taken by Banco de Portugal and Banco de Fomento.
