Chega President Andre Ventura said this Sunday that the government must submit a budget amendment to address issues related to prices, teachers and health care, arguing that otherwise the country is heading for a “catastrophe.”
Speaking to reporters, Andre Ventura believes that the government of the Republic should follow the example of Madeira, recalling that the President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, said on Saturday that the region would need to submit a budget amendment to include measures such as a 1% increase in government salaries employees.
“We need an amended national budget and Finance Minister Fernando Medina has very little time to do it. We must find a quick solution that will not allow the national environment to continue to deteriorate as it is happening,” he emphasized the President of Chega during his visit to the Regional Sugar Cane Fair in the Madeiran municipality of Ponta do Sol.
“We have very little time to solve fundamental problems, and I mean […] the issue of food prices, the issue of teachers and the issue of health,” he stressed.
According to Andre Ventura, if the government does not submit an amendment to the budget, the country is heading for a “catastrophe.”
“This is not pessimism or fatalism, we have education strikes that don’t stop, we have health services that don’t stop shutting down, we have cascading resignations at major health agencies, and the government seems to continue to do so. the appearance that it is negotiating without doing anything, ”he objected.
Leader Chegi added that in the coming months the country risks becoming “worse than during the Troika” in terms of conflicts, strikes and demonstrations.
“António Costa must solve this problem,” he concluded.
André Ventura began a three-day visit to Madeira on Saturday, which will end on Monday with a visit to the Funchal Book Fair.
