Minister Mariana Vieira da Silva hired a 21-year-old who had recently graduated and had no professional experience.
Born in Porto, Thiago Alberto Ramos Cunha is the new Deputy Minister to the President and receives a salary of around 4,000 euros. The order, published last Monday in Diário da República, shows that the young assistant received a degree in law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto this year and did not even receive a master’s degree.
In a note to JN, the ministry said the appointment was based “on the suitability of the candidate’s profile to the nature of the functions of the office, in accordance with the law and in full compliance with applicable regulations, including remuneration, following the principle that equal work is equal pay regardless of age.” . He also says that “party affiliation with the Socialist Party has never been a criterion for employment.”
