A man has been charged with domestic violence in the municipality of Luz.

A man accused of domestic violence in the municipality of Luz has been banned from contacting the victim in any way and is being controlled by an electronic device from a distance, the Coimbra State Ministry said on Tuesday.

In a note posted on its website, the Ministry of Public Administration (MP) of Coimbra said the 48-year-old man was brought in for his first judicial interrogation on Friday.

“The court considered that he was seriously charged that the defendant physically, verbally and psychologically molested the victim with whom he lived in a marriage,” he said, adding that the facts should have taken place in the period from October 2021 until the end of October this year. the last one in the municipality of Luz”.

According to the deputy, during this period the defendant insulted the victim and threatened with death, sometimes used knives to intimidate her, hit her and broke several mobile phones.

“In September 2022, when the accused was driving the car of the victim, in which there were two of them, he deliberately and forcefully crashed the car into a wall, after which he left the place and his companion. At the end of October 2022, 2022, the Defendant poured the entire contents of a bottle of ethyl alcohol onto the body of the victim and, taking a lighter with him, told him that he was going to set it on fire and that he would kill her and her son, ”he said.

In addition to prohibiting any contact with the victim, the criminal judge ruled that the accused must neither stay nor appear at the victim’s home or work place under electronic surveillance by remote control.

He was also prevented from contacting the direct relatives of the victim or witnesses in the case, and was prohibited from owning, acquiring or using any weapons.

The criminal judge also determined the obligation to submit daily logs to the police authorities and the obligation to undergo treatment for alcohol addiction, if necessary with internment.

The investigation is led by the public ministry of the local unit Luza of the Department of Investigations and Criminal Affairs of Comarca de Coimbra, with the assistance of the Center for Investigation and Support for Specific Victims (NIAVE) of the GNR Territorial Command of Coimbra. .

According to the deputy, the 48-year-old man has already been tried for several crimes, namely for qualified theft, qualified assault on physical integrity, perjury and slanderous denunciation, having served a real prison term.
