The GNR Nature and Environment Service (SEPNA) issued 63 administrative violation notices during an inspection of 31 livestock farms in the Porto area. A refrigerated vehicle was also seized containing frozen animal products, unfit for consumption and now subject to incineration.
Among the administrative offenses, most of them are related to the lack of an ear tag for goats and sheep, the lack of a license for animal husbandry, the lack of conditions for transporting animals or documentation for dogs. There are also four administrative offenses for harmful conditions of detention and two for exceeding the norm for keeping animals.
The operation was aimed at verifying the implementation of livestock activities, animal welfare, animal health and animal identification. During the action, the SEPNA structure of the territorial detachments of Amarante, Felgueiras, Matosinhos, Penafiel, Santo Tirso and Vila Nova de Gaia was strengthened, and with the support of the Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE), the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries do Norte (DRAPN), the Food and Veterinary Authority of the Northern Region (DSAVRN) and the Food and Veterinary Authority (DAV) of Porto and Braga.
