A presidency minister this Thursday personally took responsibility for hiring a young counselor to her office and stressed that the 2012 legislation on selection criteria and remuneration has always been strictly enforced.
At a press conference following the Council of Ministers meeting, Mariana Vieira da Silva was asked about a controversial case, especially on social media, involving a reward awarded to a young graduate for working in her office.
“Since 2012, there has been legislation that says everything that can be said about the creation of cabinets. [de ministros]: Selection criteria, payment due to each deputy, secretary or driver, form of publication of contracts and calendars in which they should be, ”began a response to the owner of the presidential portfolio.
According to Mariana Vieira da Silva, “these procedures in this, as in other cases, have been observed in relation to work that has both technical and political aspects.”
“This is the work that the Cabinet of Ministers is doing. I will not say anything more about this today, because this is a briefing of the Council of Ministers and these decisions are mine,” he added.
The minister reacted to news from CNN-Portugal and Correio da Manhã about the hiring of 21-year-old Tiago Cunha for an office job with a gross salary of 3,732 euros, which will be his first job.
