Luis Montenegro: “The government is teeming with politically inferior ministers”

PSD leader Luis Montenegro reacted this Wednesday to the TAP CEO’s speech with a commission of inquiry. “The government left TAP blind,” shot Montenegro.

The Social Democratic leader was highly critical of the PS, stating that “TAP is not interested, people are not interested, only what is most favorable to the Socialist Party matters.” Montenegro has said that António Costa’s government is a den of “lies, deception, obscenity, licentiousness and dishonesty”.

“More than a lie, it has also been shown that the government and PS are always looking to deceive the country,” he added.

“The government is teeming with politically humiliated ministers,” Montenegro said. The SDP leader also accused the government of not having “real concern” about TAP.

The SDP President also accused the government of embarrassing the President of the Republic by dragging his name into the TAP controversy, using him as a “pawn in the service of their agenda”.

“Putting the President of the Republic into a situation where he absolutely does not interfere, but making public how he did, naturally puts him in a situation that I find uncomfortable from an institutional point of view,” Luis Montenegro said in a statement to journalists at PSD headquarters in Port.

The Social Democrat was referring to news that reported that at a Tuesday night meeting of the TAP political tutelage commission of inquiry, IL MP Bernardo Blanco read excerpts from an email in which former Secretary of State for Infrastructure Hugo Mendez claims Reis is with the President Republic as a passenger should be postponed.

According to MP Bernardo Blanco, Hugo Méndez stressed that it was important to keep Marcelo Rebela de Sousa as an ally of TAP.

At the same panel on Tuesday, TAP’s CEO did not deny that the “email” had reached the company.

Classifying the situation as serious, Luis Montenegro felt that Marcelo Rebelo de Souza would do what he wanted, namely his assessment of the information made public.

“I have already had a chance to say and I repeat once again that I will not interfere in the actions and in the exercise of the powers constitutionally enshrined in it,” he said.

Adding that “knowing him as you know him”, he knows that the President of the Republic is not indifferent to what is happening in the Assembly of the Republic.

Luis Montenegro also accused the government of taking an instrumental view of Marcelo Rebela de Souza, who appears “in the eyes of the members of the government as a pawn of the PS in the service of its agenda”.
