Police in Northern Ireland have warned that dissident Republicans are planning attacks in Northern Ireland over the Easter weekend ahead of US President Joe Biden’s visit next week.
The Northern Ireland Police Service (PSNI) said the force has “very credible” information that its officers will be attacked in Londonderry on Easter Monday and some officers have been moved to the front lines to deal with potential threats.
Police have warned that possible public unrest linked to Republican dissidents could be used to try to lure officials into attacks with firearms or bombs. Biden will visit Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland next week, April 11-12, to mark the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.
