The Center for Social Research of the University of Coimbra (UC) is investigating allegations of harassment involving two members of the academy, which are covered in the chapter of the book “Sexual Misconduct in Academia – Informing the Ethics of Nursing at the University”. at the Academia – “Towards an Ethic of Nursing at the University”), available online from March 31.

According to the newspaper, two members of the Center for Social Research in Coimbra are accused of using their power over young students and researchers for “sexual extractivism” while the institution is being prosecuted for silence and complicity.
On their official page, the management and chairman of the CES Academic Council sign a communiqué stating that the institution is committed to painstakingly reviewing such incidents, and therefore decided to “verify the validity of the allegations” in the chapter of the book.
“In this regard, the CoES will shortly establish an independent commission that will be responsible for identifying any institutional weaknesses and investigating cases of unethical behavior mentioned in this chapter,” he says.
According to CES – a not-for-profit private association that is legislatively and legally independent of UC – this panel will consist of two external elements, one of which will be its chairman, and a CES supplier.
“External members to be invited must have recognized skills in managing similar processes,” he says.
