Luis Rodriguez, TAP’s new Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, takes office this Friday, April 14th. The information was released by the government in a statement.
“Onnew Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) and President of the Executive Committee (PCE) of TAP, SA. and from TAP, SGPS. Luis Rodriguez will take office on Friday, April 14,” the executive branch said in a statement.
The person in charge, who previously headed SATA (Companhia Aérea Açoriana), was chosen by the government to replace the sacked Christine Urmier-Widener and Manuel Beja.
This is not the first time that Luis Rodriguez has been featured prominently in a Portuguese airline. From 2009 to 2014, the former president of SATA served as chief executive. in the holding company TAP SGPS and TAP SA, as well as the chairman of the board of directors of TAP Maintenance.
The appointment was approved at a general meeting of shareholders, in which the state represented the General Directorate of Treasury and Finance (DGTF).
The meeting also adopted decisions on the procedure for the dismissal of Urmier-Widener and Manuel Beja, whose last working day will be this Thursday.
The ministry, overseen by Fernando Medina, stressed that the decision completes the process that was initiated at the general meeting on March 13, when the DGTF notifies the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Chairman of the Executive Committee (PCE) “of the company. the relevant dismissal decision is projected the next day.
The PCA and PCE sent their application to the DGTF on March 28, and according to the executive branch, the documents were “properly reviewed and taken into account” in this now reported decision.
“Thus, the conditions are met for TAP to start a new phase that can ensure the focus on the successful implementation of the company’s restructuring plan, for which the daily contribution of all employees is important,” he concluded.
