The President of the Assembly of the Republic condemned this Monday the “barbaric attack” that killed six people in Istanbul on Sunday and expressed “full solidarity” with the families of the victims, the wounded, the people and the Turkish authorities.
“We strongly condemn the barbaric bombing that took place in the city of Istanbul. Full solidarity with the families of the victims, the wounded, the Turkish people and the authorities,” wrote Augusto Santos Silva on his Twitter account.
Turkish authorities blame the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) for Sunday’s attack that left at least six people dead and more than 80 injured.
On Monday, Turkish police announced that the prime suspect in the Istanbul bombing was a Syrian citizen who reportedly received orders from the PKK in Kobani, Syria, to plant the bomb.
The PKK, banned in Turkey, is one of Turkey’s main targets in the border zone with Iraq and Syria.
