Protesting firefighters threaten not to transport sick people

The League of Portuguese Firefighters (LPB) remains threatening to stop the transport of patients discharged from hospitals for five days until the government fulfills its promise to update the amounts payable to corporations.

The deadline for coordination with the Ministry of Health has already been exceeded, but it, however, was extended until the 30th of this month.

“I believe that there is a desire on the part of the ministry to solve the problem and that an agreement can be reached,” says the LPB president.

However, António Nunez warns that “if solutions are not found, we will have a front of confrontation that is of no interest to anyone.”

Firefighters are fighting to revise the table of transportation of patients retroactively from January 1 this year. In the absence of an agreement, they promise not to transport patients discharged from the hospital, and the boycott will be repeated at intervals of 15 days until the proposals are satisfied, which also include a review of the cooperation protocol with INEM.
