The National PSP issued a written order prohibiting any element of these security forces from attending the opening of the National Fire Command. The ceremony is scheduled for this Saturday at 21:00 and will take place in Pinhal Novo, Palmela.
The ban, signed by the Deputy National Director, Chief Superintendent Constantino Ramos, was brought to the attention of all staff without any justification and providing only an Internet link to the page of the Portuguese League of Firefighters where the ceremony is presented.
The CM has asked the National PSP for this ban, but has yet to receive a response. As the CM found out, the matter is that this structure is not recognized by the guardianship or the National Authority for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection. The National Fire Command intends to take over the operational coordination of all firefighters, President António Nunez has said since he took over as head of the LBP. The motto – “Firefighters under the command of firefighters” – aims to eliminate the coordination of thousands of ANEPC operatives.
