PJ and GNR participate in the Spanish operation against the drug trafficking network with the help of “flying” boats

The PJ and GNR were involved in a Civil Guard operation in Spain against a smuggling ring that launched “flying” speedboats from Portugal to transport hashish and cocaine from North Africa to the Iberian Peninsula.

Last year, 50 people were arrested, 4.8 tons of hashish and 1.9 tons of cocaine were seized. When the Guardia Civil caught part of the net in Spain last summer, some drug traffickers were already at sea in speedboats loaded with hashish loaded in Morocco and stayed there for several days.

They ended up turning to a cocaine trafficking network in the Canary Islands for help. The Civil Guard argues that this is evidence that the hashish and cocaine trade networks are becoming increasingly interconnected. The “cocaine” route is used to deliver hashish to the Americas, while the cocaine is transported back to the Iberian Peninsula by speedboats from Morocco.
