Paredes wants to intervene in abandoned land with Bazooka funds

The Municipality of Paredes intends to invest in areas with a high risk of rural fires through the funds of the Recovery and Resilience Program (called “Bazooka”), to which it will apply. The envisaged interventions include forested areas, which may be privately owned and the owners, tenants or usufructuaries must identify themselves and authorize the intervention, otherwise this Porto district authority considers that the permits were issued tacitly.

The work covered by the municipal project Paredes + Resiliente is due to start in the fourth quarter of this year. According to the mayor’s office, in a note sent to cm“the actions envisaged in the application are related to the restoration of abandoned agricultural or agroforestry areas and the reconversion of forest areas for agricultural and silvopastoristhrough annual crops, perennial crops, taking advantage of the natural regeneration of local hardwoods and permanent meadows and pastures.” Elements of identity and restoration of structures associated with irrigation and drainage.

“The creation of forest or compost eco-points, the construction of a network of forest roads with alternative access, or even the holding of educational events are some of the planned activities,” indicates autarchy. Events are planned in the cities of Aguiar, Alvre, Brandian, Sarnada, Señora do Salto, Aguiar de Sousa, Quinta, Cascogna, Santa Comba and Vilar, Sobreira and Alem do Rio, Recarei.

However, the municipality of Paredes leaves an important warning. “The location of a number of activities is marked on the plans and owners, tenants, usufructuaries or owners of covered forest areas who so desire must apply to the Municipality of Paredes (Civil Protection Authority) to identify themselves as such and allow the above-mentioned intervention on their land.” In order to intervene in the planned areas, “owners, tenants, usufructuaries, or persons who in any capacity own land there, as well as the matrix item of the property in question, must be identified.”

In cases where the persons notified are unsure and/or whose whereabouts are unknown, without the possibility of their identification, a public notice will be posted so that “within 10 days of its publication, they will contact the local authorities to identify the land concerned and provide the Municipality of Paredes with the appropriate permission to do the work.”

After the statutory period has elapsed without any contact with the owners, tenants, usufructuaries and owners of the aforementioned forest plots, “permits are considered to have been granted tacitly and work will be carried out within a maximum period of 18 months for all villages. be to intervene.”
