PSD Asks Attorney Jorge Black to Be Heard Before Commission of Inquiry

This Thursday, the PSD requested a hearing by lawyer Jorge Black before the TAP Inquiry Panel on the government’s alleged request for legal services to “follow the findings of the IGF’s opinion on the CEO.”

According to Lusa, PSD submitted seven requests to TAP this Thursday as part of the commission of inquiry, requesting “information about the alleged search for and/or award of assistance to law firms in the process of dismissal of Christine Urmier-Widener.” and Manuel Beja, information on the procedural progress of the dismissal and whether there was a refusal on the part of Minister Joao Galamba to ratify the dispatch from the DGTF and Parpública.”

In one of the requests, the PSD asks to be heard by Jorge Blec, a lawyer and partner of the Vieira de Almeida office, “given the news published in the Jornal Económico, refuted by the Ministry of Finance, regarding the government’s alleged request for the purchase of legal services to test the opinion of the IGF regarding the CEO” .

This is the news of March 17, referenced in the PSD document, according to which “the Ministry of Finance has contacted Vieira de Almeida & Associados to provide legal services related to the findings of the IGF opinion, cited by the government to dismiss the CEO of TAP,” reported Jornal Económico lawyer Jorge Black, partner of the firm.

“This lawyer’s confirmation appears to contradict the position of Finance Minister Fernando Medina, who this week tried to refute the news put forward by JE that the government had turned to outside lawyers for support,” he said. News.

Following the same news, the SDP asks the Ministry of Finance whether it has requested “external legal advice to assist in the process of dismissal for good cause of the CEO of TAP and the chairman of the board of directors of TAP.”

“If yes, was appropriate legal advice provided? To whom? What are the relevant specifications?” he also asks.

PSD returns to the issue of the “lack of information on whether there is a legal opinion supporting a good cause dismissal” of the two former airline presidents, noting that recent news “shows the existence of a joint DGTF dispatch. and Parpública”, which “was approved by the Minister of Finance, but not by the Minister of Infrastructure”.

Thus, the Social Democrats are asking both guardianship authorities for documents regarding “the decision-making process for the dismissal of Christine Widener and Manuel Beja” and whether the government confirms the presence of a dispatch signed by the DGTF and Parpública regarding the dismissal process”, requesting this. forward to the commission of inquiry, if any.
