Strikes at the checkpoint delayed 196 trains out of 1090 scheduled until 19:00.

According to data released by the operator, strikes affecting the CP service resulted in the suppression of 196 trains out of 1,090 scheduled from 00:00 to 19:00 this Friday.

Thus, 894 trains were carried out, which means that 18% of the total number of scheduled trains were cancelled.

Out of 66 planned trains, 11 did not take place in long-distance traffic, and 61 out of 259 planned trains were suppressed in the regional one.

In the city of Lisbon, 86 trains out of about 520 did not run, and in Porto, out of 217 scheduled trains, 34 were suppressed.

In the city trains of Coimbra, four trains out of an estimated 28 were not sent.

Until the end of the month, “at the CP, workers whose normal duration is more than three hours between 00:00 and 05:00 will strike from the seventh hour of work.”

Until April 30, in Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP), “workers whose normal working period is more than three hours between 00:00 and 05:00 will strike from the seventh hour of work.”

These strikes were announced by the trade union platform, consisting of ASCEF – Allied Association of Middle Managers for Railway Research; SINFB – National Union of Railway Workers of the Brace Tribe and Related Workers; o SINFA – Independent Trade Union of Railway Transport, Infrastructure and Related Industries Workers; o FENTECOP – National Union of Transport, Communications and Public Works; SIOFA – Independent Union of Railway Workers, etc.; ASSIFECO – Independent Trade Union Association of Commercial Railway Workers and STF – Railway Technical Services.

The National Union of Drivers of Portuguese Railways (SMAQ) is also on strike throughout April, given the “snub” it accuses the company of.

Workers’ demands include “efficient wage increases”, “traction career evaluation” and improved working conditions in driver’s cabs and social facilities, as well as safety conditions on lines and in parks to protect motor material.

There is still demand for “humanization of duty lists, fixed meal times and reduction of rest time outside headquarters”, “an effective protocol for psychological support of train drivers in case of people getting stuck on the way and accidents” and “recognition and assessment of professional requirements and training of drivers by a new legislative framework “.
