Barry Humphreys died on Saturday at the age of 89 in a Sydney hospital. The actor, best known for his role as “dredge” Lady Edna Everage, has been hospitalized after suffering complications during hip surgery.
According to the BBC, the family remembers him as “totally sincere until the last moment”. “He never lost his brilliant mind, humor and generosity of spirit,” the family says.
The Prime Minister of Australia called him “absolutely one of a kind” and “the brightest star”. “Absolutely unique. They gave him. May he rest in peace,” wrote Anthony Albanese on social media.
