Brazil’s President Lula da Silva assured this Monday that the country, after being “away from the world for six years”, is ready to become “a big, important and attractive country” again.
“Brazil is ready to become a big country again, Brazil is ready to become an important country again, Brazil is ready to become an attractive country again. hegemonic relations with anyone, we want to build partnerships,” the head of the Brazilian state said during the Portugal-Brazil business forum, which takes place in Matosinhos, Porto district.
During a speech of more than 20 minutes, in which Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa was in the audience, Lula da Silva felt that in order to restore Brazil to the importance it has always had, the president, businessmen, thinkers, deputies and senators need to travel.
“We cannot remain locked under the four keys, thinking that the world thinks we are beautiful and will invest,” he stressed.
The head of state noted that Brazil was “away from the world” for almost six years.
And he added: “For six years, our country has been rejected by other countries, and other countries have also rejected Brazil.”
According to Lula da Silva, Brazil has not received a single president, and the president, referring to his predecessor, Jair Bolsonaro, has not traveled to any country because “no one was interested in dealing with people who behaved not very civilized.”
According to him, the reason why Brazil was stopped is because the president did not do what any president should do, which is to establish relations and convince others of the importance and quality of Brazil.
But, according to Lula da Silva, in order for the president of the republic to visit other countries and attract foreign capital, Brazil must offer social, political and legal stability, because otherwise no one will “invest a penny” in the country. .
With regard to partnerships, the President of Brazil highlighted the partnership with Portugal, calling for investment from Portuguese businessmen.
“The partnership between Brazil and Portugal is important because Portugal has always been treated like a small country. But there is nothing better than to establish relations with Portugal and from here in Portugal to produce products together and export them to European countries, because it is much easier. simple,” he said.
At present, he stressed, Brazil is restoring all the policies that have been “dismantled” in recent years, namely the policy of social integration.
“The priority of my government is to resume the sustainable development of social integration in the country,” he stressed.
