The Secretary General of the PKP defended on Tuesday that it is necessary to “fulfill April” and respect the Constitution, and admitted that during Lula da Silva’s speech, he felt “someone else’s shame” for Chega’s position.
Speaking to reporters in the Assembly of the Republic after the solemn commemorative session marking the 49th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, Raimundo said that he took three ideas from Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa’s speech, starting with highlighting the head of state’s statement that “April is alive.”
“In fact, he is alive, in his achievements, in his values, in fact, this expression of his achievements and values u200bu200bwas expressed yesterday [segunda-feira] at night, this Tuesday morning and will be expressed later in the afternoon on these avenues and streets of the country, and in particular on Avenida da Liberdade,” he stressed.
On the other hand, the General Secretary of the PCP said that he agrees with the President of the Republic when he says that “April belongs to the people”, emphasizing that the Revolution of Facts is in fact “the consecration of the people”. .
Finally, the communist leader also pointed out that Marcelo warned that “governments and prime ministers alternate and, in fact, the basic law is not respected.”
“It is in Abril and in his values that the answer to the challenges we face lies. Therefore, it is necessary that Abril be implemented and, in particular, what is the basic law, namely what it enshrined, from the right to equality, to access to housing, health, dignity, higher wages. This is something that remains to be done,” he stressed.
In these statements to journalists, Paulo Raimundo was asked how the PP felt about Chega’s position during a speech by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva this morning.
“I think this is an incident without comment, they themselves are to blame for this. A little bit of someone else’s shame, a little bit of someone else’s shame,” he replied.
