The TAP Inquiry Commission has already received information from the government with documentation of the resignations of former airline presidents, President Jorge Segura Sánchez confirmed today.
In response to a question from Social Democrat MP Paulo Moniz, the chairman of the commission of inquiry confirmed that the documentation had already been received by the commission.
“Since we are all auditioning, I don’t know who under what conditions and with what classification,” said Seguro Sanchez.
Hours earlier, the Treasury Secretary had said that the TAP investigation panel would have access today to all documentation on the process of firing the company’s executive presidents and board of directors.
This assurance to Fernando Medina was conveyed in a plenary session in the Assembly of the Republic during the debate on the Stability Program, accompanied by the Ministers of the Presidency, Mariana Vieira da Silva, and the Ministers of Parliamentary Affairs, Ana Catarina Méndez. The two ministers were also involved in controversy over the existence or absence of a legal opinion justifying the dismissal of these TAP administrators.
Asked by deputies Mariana Mortagua (Bloc de Esquerda), Hugo Carneiro (PSD) and Cotrim Figueiredo (Liberal Initiative), the Minister of Finance replied: “Even today, the parliamentary commission of inquiry [sobre a gestão da TAP] will have access to all documents.
“You will have access to the documents you requested the first time. And the ones that you didn’t ask for the first time and that form the basis of the TAP administrators’ firing process,” he said.
In this question regarding the topic of TAP, Fernando Medina referred to the “deplorable adjectives” he has heard in recent days regarding the sending of documents to the commission of inquiry.
“Sad from several deputies. The minister of the presidency explained everything,” he said.
According to Fernando Medina, now the deputies “will be able to see and make a second attempt to create what they failed to demonstrate the first time.”
“The same adjective they used, and which is so out of place in our democratic life, was defeated for the first time. And it will be defeated a second time,” he added.
