President Chegi accused the government this Thursday of lying “every day” about the resignation of TAP’s executive president, believing that taxpayers will pay for the way the process was handled.
“Every day, every hour, António Costa has to come and explain to the country. This stubborn lie about TAP must end. Ministers cannot lie every day in parliament and now we have just learned that Fernando Medina lied when he said he was legally protected from firing the TAP CEO,” Andre Ventura told reporters on Ovibeja.
According to leader Chega, “taxpayers will most likely pay for the government’s negligence and unpreparedness,” since the state’s central legal services themselves “warned the guardianship authorities about the legal fragility” of the arguments underlying the resignation of the TAR director general.
“Antonio Costa can no longer hide with the idea that we have to wait and that the commission will find out what it needs to find out. Every day we learn about new inconsistencies and new lies,” he insisted, stressing that the Government wanted to take “a step more than a foot.”
Andre Ventura believes that the exchange of correspondence now made public “leaves no room for doubt” that not only “there was no legal validity, no opinions, no legal documents, but at the same time there were discrepancies between the guardianship authorities and themselves” about actions to be taken with respect to the presidents of the administration and the executive body of TAP.
“The documentation provided today says just the opposite, that the government was not legally preparing for this dismissal and wanted to make a political number, and in all likelihood, unfortunately, in the end we will either pay compensation or be punished, the State Portuguese language for This is a layoff,” he said.
During his visit to Ovibehu, André Ventura was constantly asked to take “selfies”, especially by young people, and some even asked him to sign autographs.
The 39th edition of Ovibeja will take place from Thursday to Monday at the Parque de Feiras e Exposições de Beja – Manuel Castro e Brito, this year it will feature over 1,000 exhibitors.
