Finance Minister Fernando Medina this Friday affirmed a “clear and transparent decision-making process” to acquit TAP leaders based on a General Inspectorate for Finance (IGF) report that pointed to illegal activities while criticizing “leaked selective information.”

“I don’t want to comment on the selective leaks of information from documents submitted to the commission of inquiry, which the government actually presented very clearly and very openly, as we have always done from the very beginning,” he began. minister of care.

Speaking to reporters at the end of an informal Eurogroup held in Stockholm by the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU, the official added: “I only confirm what I have always said from the beginning about this process. [que] The basis of all reasoning regarding the administration of the TAP is described in his facts, in his legal arguments, in his legal qualifications, in the IGF report.”

“This is the basis on which the government made its decision, and I will not add more about it now,” he added, indicating that he would “be heard at the right time in the commission of inquiry.”

The opinion of the IGF pointed to irregularities in the process related to the payment of TAP compensation in the amount of 500 thousand euros to the former administrator and former finance minister Alexandra Reis.

According to an IGF report published last March, former TAP administrator Alexandra Reis will have to return a total of 450,110.26 euros in compensation paid to her by the company, given that the signed agreement to withdraw the carrier was declared invalid.

Following the release of this report, the government also announced that it had fired TAP Chairman and Executive Chairman Manuel Beja and Christine Urmier-Widener, respectively, and that it had selected the current SATA Chairman, Luis Silva Rodriguez, to fill both positions.

“The legal factual basis for the qualification of facts is contained in the IGF report,” insisted Fernando Medina.

This Friday, the PS demanded reprisals for the selective leak of classified documents, stressing that it constituted a crime against the public interest and the state “probably” committed by members of a sovereign body.

The IGF review of the legitimacy of the compensation paid to Alexandra Reis was determined on December 27 last year by Finance Minister Fernando Medina and then Infrastructure and Housing Minister Pedro Nuno Santos.
