The government opened a criminal case against the rehabilitated MP Galamba

The government has opened a criminal case against Frederico Pinheiro, the deputy cabinet minister for infrastructure, who was fired on Wednesday for “behavior inconsistent with duties and responsibilities,” according to CNN Portugal.

Following the dismissal of João Galamba’s aide, Frederico Pinheiro took home two government computers, one of which contained classified information, according to CNN Portugal. The Judicial Police conducted searches and have already seized the computers, returning them to the Ministry of Infrastructure.

Frederico Pinheiro was targeted in an exchange of information released to the media on Thursday about the controversy at TAP.

In a reply sent to Luce, João Galamba’s office explained that Federico Pineiro had been dismissed on 23 April and that “as described in a dispatch to be published in Diário da República, the deputy in question had taken “behavior inconsistent with the duties and responsibilities inherent in the performance of his ministerial duties.

The ministry adds that, according to the law, “members of ministerial cabinets are ‘appointed freely and dismissed by order of a member of the government’, and these decisions are later published in the Diário da República.”
