Today’s CP strike resulted in the cancellation of one in five planned trips

According to data sent by the carrier to Lusa, the strikes affecting CP resulted in the suppression of 130 trains out of 674 planned this Saturday, which is 19.3% of the total.

Thus, 544 trains were carried out during the same period, the company specified.

In long-distance traffic, 10 trains out of 51 planned were stopped, and in regional traffic, out of 208 scheduled, 65 did not run.

In the city of Lisbon, 39 out of 257 scheduled trains were delayed, while in Porto, 12 trains were delayed out of about 135 trains.

In the urban areas of Coimbra, 12 trains out of about 23 did not take place.

Until Sunday at the CP, workers whose normal work period is more than three hours between 00:00 and 05:00 will strike from the seventh hour of work.

In Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP), and until Sunday, workers whose normal working period is more than three hours between 00:00 and 05:00 will strike from the seventh hour of work.

These strikes were announced by the trade union platform, consisting of ASCEF – Allied Association of Middle Managers for Railway Research; SINFB – National Union of Railway Workers of the Brace Tribe and Related Workers; o SINFA – Independent Trade Union of Railway Transport, Infrastructure and Related Industries Workers; o FENTECOP – National Union of Transport, Communications and Public Works; SIOFA – Independent Union of Railway Workers, etc.; ASSIFECO – Independent Trade Union Association of Commercial Railway Workers and STF – Railway Technical Services.

The National Union of Drivers of Portuguese Railways (SMAQ) is also on strike during this month, given the “snub” it accuses the company of.

Among the workers’ demands are “efficient wage increases”, “traction career evaluation” and improved working conditions in driver’s cabs and social facilities, as well as safety conditions on lines and in parks to protect motor material.

Workers are also asking for “humanizing duty lists, setting fixed meal times and reducing rest time away from headquarters”, “an effective protocol for psychological support of train drivers in case of stuck people and accidents”, and “recognition and evaluation of professional requirements and training machinists with a new legislative framework”.
