The PSD president said Saturday night that the prime minister “should be concerned” about keeping his promise to lower the cost of tolls and accused António Costa of wanting “a bit” of the constitutional review process.
“He should only care about fulfilling the promise he made during the 2015 election campaign to reduce the cost of the toll by 50%,” said Luis Montenegro from Peñafiel, Porto district, where he attended the opening of the toll. party regional bodies.
On Saturday, the prime minister said “nothing” justifies a 10 percent toll hike in January.
Regarding the revision of the constitution, the leader of the Social Democrats accused António Costa of wanting “so little” from the process.
“Recently, when it intersected with the Constitution of the Republic, [António Costa] wants to solve the problem of metadata and wants to solve the rules regarding the state of emergency for health reasons. Such a little doctor Antonio Costa,” criticized Luis Montenegro.
The leader of the Social Democrats asked the prime minister and the PS if they “want to explore the introduction of e-voting in Portugal” and “whether or not they agree to the creation of a council of territorial and intergenerational cohesion.”
Montenegro also wants to know if António Costa “wants to continue the regime of appointing the Attorney General of the Republic, the President of the Court of Accounts, the Governor of the Bank of Portugal” or if he wants to give them “more independence” instead of depending on the “government proposal”.
Another question left by the SDP leader was whether the Prime Minister “wants or does not want” in the areas of health, housing and education that “the offer of public services be carried out by public services in addition to the social sector and the private sector”.
“Or do you want to insist that all this should be in the sphere of the state, which it has done in recent years. And that is why we have today the worst public services that can be remembered in Portugal,” he said, leaving a warning: “If António Costa and the Socialist Party think that we have presented this project [de revisão constitucional] just to stay on schedule, they’re going to have to face all these offers.”
