PCP asks the President of the Republic and the executive branch to focus on solving the problems of the population

The PKP this Thursday asked the President of the Republic and the government to focus on solving the problems of the population and considered “the whole series of cases” in which the executive branch was involved “deplorable.”

Speaking to reporters in the Assembly of the Republic, PKP parliamentary leader Paula Santos said that at a time when “economic and social problems are on the rise” and there are “a set of unfortunate episodes involving members of the government”, do not divert “attention from what is central and decisive.

“What workers, pensioners, people are complaining about are answers to the problems they face: salaries and pensions do not come until the end of the month, there are difficulties with housing, access to healthcare, food all day on the table,” he said .

Paula Santos defended that the President of the Republic and the government should “focus on solving these problems”, asking “not to take advantage of the problems in order to avoid the necessary solutions.”

The PKP parliamentary leader added that “a little over a year ago” the Assembly of the Republic was dissolved “in good time”, resulting in a government that won an absolute majority in legislative elections.

“There is nothing stopping the current government from responding to these issues. The central issue at the moment is to find solutions, to move forward with solutions to solve problems in people’s lives,” he said.

When asked if the PCP was devaluing the government episode in this way, Paula Santos replied that her party had never said that.

“We believe the situation is very serious and that the string of cases that have come to light involving government officials is regrettable.
