Despite the fact that Jeronimo de Sousa was not present, this Monday MPs from the Left and the PSD gave a standing ovation in Parliament. The liberal initiative applauded, but Cheg’s bench decided not to applaud.
At the opening of the plenary session this Monday, “on behalf of the whole chamber”, the President of the Assembly of the Republic wanted to thank Jeronimo de Souza and emphasized “his cordiality, personal sympathy and political contribution”. “He was a deputy in this assembly for decades, first in the Constituent Assembly and then in the Assembly of the Republic,” said Augusto Santos Silva. “Stay here with many friends, and using the track record that Mr. Jeronimo de Souza has always enriched us, resorting to popular wisdom, we can say: strong friendship, the doors are always open,” the leader of the parliament added.
Minister Ana Catarina Mendez also thanked Jeronimo for her “contribution”.
