On his new arrival in the sprint, Leitao lost only to Aniolkowski, as had already happened in the first stage, crossing the finish line at the end of the 133.5 km between Costa Navarino and Olympia, with a time of 02:56.20. , against the German Pirmin Eisenbarth (Bike Aid), who was third.
Thus, the 24-year-old cyclist from Viana do Castelo confirmed the final victory in the Tour of Greece and his first overall victory in the stage race.
“I am very pleased with what we have achieved. During these five days there was a lot of struggle, but we showed that we are a very strong team, and without everyone’s help this would not have been possible, ”admitted the Portuguese. This is stated in a statement by Caja Rural.
Leitao, who finished four out of five stages in the top three (he was eighth in the prologue), saw his regularity rewarded, leaving second-place New Zealander Aaron Gate (Bolton Equities Black Spoke) six seconds behind. Aniolkowski closed the podium, nine seconds behind the Portuguese.
“Although Aaron Gate had a bonus in the intermediate sprint, we believed we could recover. [o tempo perdido] in the final sprint.
