Enough demands the immediate resignation of Galamba and a reshuffle in the government

This morning, Chega submitted to the Assembly of the Republic a draft resolution recommending to the government the “immediate” resignation of Infrastructure Minister João Galamba and a reshuffle in the government after successive disagreements that led to the meeting being the starting point “between members of the government of the Ministries of Infrastructure and Parliamentary Affairs, the then TAP CEO Christine Urmier-Widener and PS Parliamentary Group MP Carlos Pereira”, culminating in the recent political crisis between Belém and São Bento.

Draft resolutions are discussed and voted by deputies, but do not have the force of law. If the Chega project is approved, this means that the parliament recommends that the government dismiss Galamba and move on to reconstruction. A hypothesis that is not completely ruled out, although the PS has an absolute majority, which allows it to stop Chega’s intentions herself. But several socialists defended the resignation of Galamba and a reshuffle in the government, as already mentioned twice by the President of the PS Carlos Cesar, so it will be interesting to assess the behavior of the socialist bench during the voting on this draft resolution.

The document that cm had access begins with a brief history of events, emphasizing that the Socialists’ secret meeting with Christine Urmier-Widener “was made public only more than two months later, when the former CEO was heard before a commission of inquiry at TAP. , on April 4, and confirmed its implementation, as well as who initiated the meeting, confirming that it came from the current Minister of Infrastructure.

“On that day,” adds Chega, “disputes began around this meeting, namely: who asked for it, were there missed records of this meeting, the alleged theft of a computer with classified information, aggression and dismissals that are directly related to Joao Galamba and his then Federico Pinheiro’s adviser,” to which he also adds the controversial intervention of the Information and Security Service (SIS).

For André Ventura’s party, Galamba came to be seen in public opinion and in general as a “fragile minister. However, Prime Minister António Costa chose to keep it in the name of stability, contrary to the declared position of the president.”

The Portuguese, says Chega, “expect and deserve more and better from political power and the message that the President of the Republic conveyed to the Portuguese, suggesting fundamental disagreements with the Prime Minister after the Prime Minister’s rejection. João Galamba’s resignation was clear and highlights the importance of trust in institutions.”

Therefore, Chega recommends that the government “carry out personnel changes in the government, including the immediate replacement of the current Minister of Infrastructure, Joao Galamba.”
