The government today approved the National Health Plan 2030, which focuses the state’s actions on five priorities to expand access to health care and reduce risks.
“Today we approved the National Health Plan 2030 with five goals after extensive public comment: reduce health inequalities; promoting healthy lifestyles, cultures and communities; minimizing the effects of climate change and other burdens of communicable and non-communicable diseases, and keeping health problems under control,” said Manuel Pizarro.
At a press conference following the Council of Ministers meeting, Manuel Pizarro also emphasized that the document approved today identified “15 strategic goals”, including promoting equity and health literacy, promoting peace, equity and prosperity, intensifying partnerships across all sectors and favorable conditions for health.
Manuel Pizarro also listed active and healthy aging as part of his mission, caring for the environment and related risk monitoring, combating water-borne health problems, strengthening health resilience and ensuring preparedness for public health emergencies. .
Regarding this plan, the official also stressed that the executive branch expects to expand access to health care – with a focus on quality sexual, reproductive, maternal and child health – and maintain the high vaccination coverage recorded in Portugal.
