An inmate at the Linho prison in Sintra, a district of Lisbon, was injured this Wednesday after a fire broke out in his cell, a source from Alcabideche firefighters told Lusa.
The alarm was raised at 10:20 p.m. due to a fire in a cell in Linho Prison.
Nine Alcabideche firefighters arrived on the scene, supported by three vehicles and a Medical Ambulance and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) from Cascais.
The fire was extinguished by prison guards, and firefighters took over the aftermath, the same source added.
The victim, believed to be light, who was in the chamber where the fire broke out, was rescued on the spot by VMER personnel and taken to the Cascais hospital.
