Two welfare officers who signed a false report that led to the removal of two children from their mother were sentenced to four years in prison with a suspended sentence.
Sandra Batista was sentenced to four years and six months in prison with a suspended sentence, while another technician was sentenced to four years in prison and also suspended.
Compulsory measures were also taken against two social welfare professionals, barring them from holding positions in child-related matters for the duration of their probation and receiving compensation in the amount of 118,600 euros.
Two women signed a protocol with false information. Ana Maximiano’s daughters were eventually handed over to their father, who was found guilty of domestic violence a few months later.
The mother, who was without daughters for six years, managed to regain custody of her children, the eldest in 2019 and the youngest two in 2021, but guarantees that she will never be able to forgive what happened.
