President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa told reporters this Thursday that he would schedule a meeting of the Council of State “on the situation in Portugal” and “internal policy”.
“In July, I will host the parties that have seats in the Assembly of the Republic to take stock of the legislative session, which ends in July, and finally listen to them – I haven’t heard from them in months – about the economic, socio-political situation,” he said.
“And then, towards the end of July, I will convene another State Council on the situation in Portugal,” he added.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa stated that “it has been a long time” since he convened a political body for presidential consultations on domestic affairs and believes that “it makes sense to listen to state advisers right after the parties.”
His intention is not to listen to advisers “about any particular moment, not about any particular case of intervention”, but “in general” about “what they think about the evolution of the economy, how it will develop to the end “. year and next year to hear about the social situation and hear about the political situation,” he said.
“I thought about it and thought it makes sense to assess the situation through the Council of State,” said Marcelo Rebelo de Souza.
The President of the Republic recalled that he continues to closely monitor the situation around the disagreements in the Ministry of Infrastructure, and said that the first contact with him on this issue was on the 29th. [abril]”.
