The GNR Coastal Control Group seized this Friday 420 kg of fish unfit for consumption at the Costa Nova municipal market in Ilhavo, Aveiro district, the security service said.
The GNR said in a statement that during an inspection, the Guards military found in one of the cold stores of the market “several boxes containing 420 kg of fish, which turned out to be unfit for consumption.”
“After the action, the General Directorate of Food and Veterinary Medicine (DGAV) of Aveiro was contacted, which, after carrying out a proper hygiene check, declared the fish unfit for consumption, which led to its seizure,” the same note says.
Also, according to the GNR, a legal representative of the company, a 46-year-old woman, was identified, who committed an administrative offense in relation to the authenticity, quality or composition of food products, a fine for which could amount to 2,500 euros.
