PSD withdrew political confidence from MP Pinto Moreira

Luis Montenegro, the president of the PSD, confirmed on Monday that the party had withdrawn political confidence in MP Joaquim Pinto Moreira. The politician spoke to reporters from his headquarters in Lisbon.

“The leadership of the PSD, on my proposal, first decided to deprive Pinto Moreira of political confidence, releasing him from representing the parliamentary faction of the PSD in parliamentary work. This decision is purely political and justified in connection with the uncoordinated restoration of the parliamentary mandate within a period far from the suspension period permitted by law,” the social democrat said.

Montenegro indicated that the party is going through a “new political cycle” and that “it is focused on this work”.

“The PSD does not obey and does not want to contribute to the degradation of politics. And therefore, she does it differently. We do not hide behind “slang for politics – what belongs to politics, for justice – what belongs to justice.” , he stressed.

The PSD leader also stated that “the permanent commission, at the suggestion of its chairman, asks the National Council of Jurisdiction to initiate a process of internal investigation on the conditions under which the municipal candidates of Lisbon were chosen in the 2017 elections.”
