A 51-year-old man was arrested early last Tuesday morning at Monte Abraan train station for aggression, resistance, coercion and insulting an official.
According to a statement from the Public Security Police (PSP), it all started with the man harassing another passenger.
“Police on duty on the Sintra railway line on the Rossio-Sintra route requested assistance from a passenger who had been aggressively harassed by a suspect a few minutes earlier,” PSP said in a statement.
While being questioned by agents called to the scene, a “visibly upset and aggressive” man threatened them, disobeying orders to stop such behavior.
The detained man approached the police officer on duty, who was driving home. He spoke offensive words and attacked her. Another PSP tried to stop the man, but the detainee attacked and pushed him.
Through the efforts of several agents and passengers, the aggressor was eventually detained.
“Upon arrival at the police station at the Monte Abraan railway station, the suspect behaved as before, uncooperative, aggressive and hostile, repeatedly insulting the officers on duty, preventing entry to the police station and repeatedly kicking the police officer. door, eventually breaking three windows”, can be read.
