700,000 people left without drinking water after dam collapse

The humanitarian situation in Ukraine is “extremely worse” than before the destruction of the Kakhovka dam, when 700,000 people have no access to clean water, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs has warned.

Martin Griffiths said that floods in Ukraine, one of the world’s largest agricultural producers, will inevitably lead to reduced grain exports, higher food prices and less food for millions of people in need around the world.

“But the truth is that we are just beginning to see the consequences of this act,” the Briton who heads the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said Friday in an interview with the Associated Press news agency. (TEA).
