‘I feel guilty’: Jessica’s father no longer spoke to the girl after April 2022

The father of Jessica, a three-year-old girl who was brutally murdered last June, was heard this Monday in a court in Setúbal.

Alexandrino Biscay did not want to make any statements to reporters upon arrival at the court. Jessica’s father will have to explain what kind of relationship he had with the child. Recall that last week he even told the media that “the main culprit of this is the mother.”

Jessica’s father emigrated to the Netherlands in February 2022 and did not have a particularly close relationship with the girl.

‘I heard Jessica died for my eldest granddaughter’: Jessica’s paternal grandmother says her son and Inez lied a lot

Maria Lino, Alexandrino’s mother, Jessica’s paternal grandmother, begins by saying that her granddaughter was “a very sweet girl, she was charming.”

“Unfortunately, I know Ines. I don’t know the other defendants. I often met an old woman (Tita) in Pingo Doche, but I knew her only by sight.

Answering a question from the MP, Maria says that she often came to Setúbal to be with Jessica, “at that time I was still with Ines, sometimes weekly, the rest of the time on weekends.”

“I saw Jessica 7/8 months before she died. Two years ago, at Christmas, the girl wore a diaper. I couldn’t stay with the girl for long… it didn’t last even an hour.”

Did you know what your son consumed?

“I realized that my son was very upset.”

Have you ever talked to a girl on the phone?

“Yes! She said: “Hello, grandmother, I love you very much.”

The girl’s maternal grandmother also says she never changed her granddaughter’s diaper and that her son and Inez lied a lot.

“When my son left, I lived in a rented house, it was a permanent place of residence, it was not mine.”

The judge presents Grandma Jessica with a photo of the item (moka). Maria Lino recognizes him and says that she was at her parents’ house, but didn’t know her name was mocha. “I’ve seen this many times at my parents’ house.”

When asked by lawyers if the son spoke in these last months about the presence of any marks on Jessica, Maria assures that she does not.

“I heard that Jessica died for my eldest granddaughter. It was twenty to two in the morning.”

Jessica’s paternal grandmother asks the collective for justice for those who have harmed her granddaughter.

Inez’s hairdresser’s testimony is over.

Hairdresser Ines says she saw Jessica with a black woman on her forehead.

Hairdresser Inez begins by saying that the girl’s mother started visiting her eight months before Jessica’s death.

“Inez went every week. Then, when she had a cancer problem, according to her, she stopped walking so often. Jessica has only been my client once. The girl went in early June to get a haircut.

He says he knows Jessica because he accompanied his mother to the hairdresser. When asked by the deputy if she noticed anything in the girl’s hair, the hairdresser replied that she hadn’t noticed anything.

“Are you sure you only saw her in June?” the deputy asks.

“Yes, it was early June 2022.”

“Was the girl scheduled for January of last year?” the hairdresser replied, no.

The deputy shows the witness a photo of Jessica’s notebook. The woman insists that it was on July 2 that Jessica got her hair cut, and guarantees that everything is in order with her head.

“Only once it was with the mother, and she had blackness on her forehead.”

The hairdresser says she last saw Jessica on the 2nd, after she went to her salon to get her hair cut.

“At the time, Inez told me that the girl was going to kindergarten and that she was going to get her hair cut so she could go to kindergarten,” he said.

She says that she herself shaved off Inez’s cap, zero machine, but does not remember how the girl was dressed.

‘I thought Inez was molesting a girl’: Jessica’s dad says he realized his daughter was bruised during video call

The judge asks if Alexandrino noticed the bruises on Jessica during the video calls he made with his daughter. The girl’s father confirms and says that in one of these calls, when the image was enlarged, he was able to notice certain injuries.

“I thought Inez was flirting with a girl,” says Jessica’s father.

Alexandrino says he has several photographs to back up his claims. Find one on your phone to show an example. He presents an image in which he says that he noticed wounds on his forehead.

The judge says the photo is not very visible.

“When you saw the bruises, did you speak to Ines?” asks the public ministry.

“Yes, I argued with her about this. She said that the girl spent the weekend at her godmother’s house and fell off her chair,” Alexandrino replies.

Prosecutors point to glaring inconsistencies in Alexandrino Biscay’s testimony, especially the dates he claimed to have noticed Jessica’s bruises and the dates he referred to the video call.

‘I feel guilty’: Jessica’s father no longer spoke to the girl after April 2022

As of April 2022, Alexandrino never sees his daughter again via video link. The judge asks why he kept in touch with Ines and no longer insisted on making connections with Jessica.

“I have always been deceived by Inez’s lies. I had no contact with Jessica’s maternal grandmother. I feel guilty as a father,” he says.

Alexandrino explains that after that month, he no longer spoke to his daughter and only saw her in photographs.

Inez Sanchez asked Alexandrino for money the day Jessica died.

Jessica’s father presents several messages that he exchanged with Ines Sanchez, among which he singles out one received on the day of his daughter’s death.

“Hi darling, don’t forget to send to my account,” Jessica’s mother sent this message to Alexandrino on June 20 at 11:56.

Jessica’s father denies buying drugs from Eduardo and Justo Montes.

The court tried to understand if Alexandrino had any relationship with Eduardo and Justo Montes, Tita’s son and husband. This doubt arises due to the fact that at the last court hearing, Eduardo stated that between 2017 and 2019, Jessica’s father bought them drugs.

“I use drugs, but I don’t sell them,” says Jessica’s father, denying he ever bought them from the defendants.

“I only knew them by sight, I never had much intimacy with them,” he notes.

Jessica’s father says he didn’t notice marks on the girl’s body when he bathed her and changed her diaper.

Jessica’s father remembers the weekend he spent with his daughter after breaking up with Ines Sanchez.

“I rented a room in the school district,” he says.

The judge asks Alexandrino if he realized that the girl had some kind of injury or mark on her body when he bathed her and changed her diaper.

Jessica’s father says he didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary, but when they were together, the child had difficulty defecation.

The judge insists and asks if Alexandrino checked the child’s anus. He says he doesn’t remember.

‘The girl had no joy’: Alexandrino says his daughter’s condition began to worsen when he broke up with Ines

Alexandrino begins by saying that he met Ines Sanchez in 2017 and maintained a relationship with her until October 2020. Jessica’s father says that a month after they met, they began to live together. The house was paid for by him. “Ines didn’t work, she never worked for four years. It was all a lie,” he emphasizes.

“When we broke up, I couldn’t visit my daughter at home. Ines insisted that I didn’t know where they lived. I rarely spoke to the girl and only saw her again in January 2021,” he explains.

“When I saw her again, I felt that something strange was going on. She was my love, and I felt it, I did not see the joy in the girl. She must have been like this because her mother treated her badly.”

Ines cries at the testimony of her former companion.

After parting, Alexandrino saw the child several times. On average, they talked via video link once a week. Already personally the frequency was even lower. Jessica’s father says that over time, they grew even more distant from each other.
