Since Sunday evening, a 5-year-old child has been missing in the city of Praia, the Cape Verde National Police said on Monday, which suspects that a man with mental disorders took the minor.
The Cape Verdean police said in a statement that on Sunday evening they became aware of the disappearance of a 5-year-old girl living in the center of Achada Santo António, in the city of Praia.
According to the same source, the child was last seen by his mother at around 21:30 local time (another two hours Lisbon time) on Sunday, when he was playing on the balcony of the house in which he lives, in the company of another minor.
“Preliminary information provided by the family (still unconfirmed) indicates that it could have been taken by a person with a mental disorder who daily walks the street where the child lives in search of food,” police said.
The NP said it was conducting checks and searches and asked anyone with any information to contact 132.
Back in the city of Praia, Cape Verdean authorities have been investigating for more than five years the disappearance of two children, aged 10 and 12 at the time, who fled their home in Achada Limpo but were never seen again by their families. .
The 19-year-old girl and her young son also disappeared more than five years ago, as did another child whose bones were found in January 2018 in an area on the outskirts of the city of Praia.
