The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) closed this Thursday local housing in Portalegre, where 15 immigrants were living without any conditions.
The warning of a violent fight last Friday triggered the operation. At that time, PSP was called to respond to the incident and was able to verify the lack of hygienic conditions at the site.
The ASAE was later contacted and an operation was scheduled for that Thursday, culminating in the lockdown of the house.
José Moreira, head of public relations for PSP in Portalegre, told reporters. cm that the housing was legal, as well as the people living there. The problem would really be in the state of repair and the harmfulness that the house presented.
“The conditions were not worthy,” he said.
Meetings are currently taking place between the authorities and the municipality of Portalegre to find a solution for the displaced immigrants.
