The Attorney General’s Office (MP) has charged two members of the support group Diabos Vermelhos, which influences Benfica, with the crime of violating the physical integrity of two Sporting fans belonging to the Torcida Verde support team, the Attorney General’s Office announced this Friday.
According to a memo posted on the online page of the Lisbon District Attorney’s Office, the attacks took place near the Torcida Verde facilities, close to the José Alvalade stadium, in May 2021, “when the victims were setting up the facilities to celebrate the Day of the Lion.” dedicated to the Sporting fans who died during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The deputy’s indictment states that the two defendants, who were to be accompanied by other suspects, whose identity has not yet been established, “drove in a car to the José Alvalade stadium, stopped next to the offended and struck them with punches and kicks.” .
The investigation was carried out by the Department of Investigations and Criminal Affairs (DIAP) of Lisbon with the assistance of the Public Security Police (PSP).
