Increased patrols on farms and forests to prevent human trafficking and theft.

Starting this Tuesday, GNR will increase patrols and inspections of agricultural and forestry areas in order to prevent possible situations of human trafficking and theft, as well as to ensure the safe use of vehicles.

The National Republican Guard (GNR) said in a statement that the “Campo Seguro 2023” operation, which ends on December 31, aims to increase patrols, inspections and information in agricultural and forestry research throughout the country in order to prevent crime in general and theft in particular, as well as possible situations of human trafficking.”

GNR also intends to draw the attention of the general population, and in particular the rural population, to taking measures to prevent theft of agricultural products, copper and other non-precious metals, as well as the safe use of agricultural and forestry vehicles.

GNR recalls that last year there were 561 accidents involving agricultural machinery, 47 deaths and 64 seriously injured. “Actions will be initiated to raise the awareness of users of tractors and agricultural machinery in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations and prevent accidents when maneuvering agricultural and forestry vehicles / machines,” the GNR said in a statement.

In the note, the security guard advises users not to neglect vehicle maintenance, use lighting and signaling devices in accordance with the law, attend theoretical and practical classes, and do not drive under the influence of alcohol, fatigue or inappropriate speed. for the condition of the vehicle and the cargo being transported.

GNR also recalls that protective structures such as the Santo António arch can prevent driver death or reduce the severity of injuries. As part of the operation, military personnel from various regions of the PPR will be involved, namely from the territorial commands, the Nature and Environment Protection Service, the state security and honor detachment, and the tax action department.

According to the guard, inspections will also be carried out in relation to the transport of agricultural and forest products at land border crossings, in agreement with the Spanish Civil Guard.
