ASAE opened 90 criminal cases on the fact of usurpation of the functions of aesthetic medicine

The Food and Economic Security Administration (ASAE) has opened about 90 criminal cases for usurping the functions of aesthetic medicine by injecting Botox into clinics, beauty salons and hairdressers, it was announced on Monday.

The ASAE statement explained that it had conducted an inspection operation through the National Criminal Information and Investigation Unit (UNIIC) in connection with “expanding the supply of procedures of this type without any medical qualification for this purpose.”

“(…) As an operational balance, to date, about 90 criminal cases have been initiated on the facts of usurpation of functions, which entailed the seizure of various medical devices, equipment and other utensils used in the commission of a criminal offense. , as a preventive measure to prevent the involvement to criminal liability,” he said.

The authorities emphasize that the administration of botulinum toxin (Botox) or hyaluronic acid, as well as the application of other procedures using invasive methods, such as thread tension for facial harmonization, is allowed only for medical professionals and is prohibited for persons without this legal authorization.

“Because an unqualified person is at stake, such situations can pose a risk to the physical integrity of those undergoing these procedures, and sometimes they cause irreversible and irreversible physical damage, as reported. on numerous complaints addressed to the ASAE,” he emphasizes.
